9:41
Forgiveness
Ask what you’re carrying.
How can I forgive someone who hurt me?
AskJesus
Private by default. Grounded in God’s word.

Read. Reflect. Pray. Take the next faithful step.

You do not need polished words.

Christian forgiveness surrenders personal vengeance to God and refuses to nurture hatred. It does not require denying harm, removing wise boundaries, avoiding accountability, or restoring trust before repentance and safety make that possible.

A prayer for forgiveness

Father, You know what I am carrying and what I cannot fix. Meet me in this season of forgiveness. Give me wisdom to see what is true, courage to do what is mine to do, and humility to release what I cannot control. Use Your Word to correct fear, shame, hurry, or disappointment in me. Put wise people around me and help me receive support when I need it. Teach me to be faithful in the next step instead of demanding the whole path at once. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Make it your own.

1. Tell God the specific thing.

Use ordinary words. Say what you want, what you fear, and what you need help to do faithfully.

2. Ask for formation, not only relief.

Use ordinary words. Say what you want, what you fear, and what you need help to do faithfully.

3. Connect the prayer to Scripture.

Start with Matthew 6:12-15, Matthew 18:21-35, Luke 23:33-34.

4. End with one next step.

Write an unsent prayer naming the harm and releasing revenge to God, then identify one boundary or repair step to discuss with a trusted pastor or counselor.
