A Prayer for Career
A Scripture-centered prayer for career and a simple way to make the prayer your own.
Bring what is real.
Open the app with the question, prayer, or part of life you are carrying. AskJesus helps you move into Scripture, reflection, prayer, and a faithful next step.
Read. Reflect. Pray. Take the next faithful step.
You do not need polished words.
God's calling is larger than a job and includes the kind of person you become wherever you serve. Career discernment can hold together gifts, responsibilities, opportunities, counsel, and the needs of others without expecting a single perfect sign.
Father, You know what I am carrying and what I cannot fix. Meet me in this season of career. Give me wisdom to see what is true, courage to do what is mine to do, and humility to release what I cannot control. Use Your Word to correct fear, shame, hurry, or disappointment in me. Put wise people around me and help me receive support when I need it. Teach me to be faithful in the next step instead of demanding the whole path at once. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Make it your own.
1. Tell God the specific thing.
Use ordinary words. Say what you want, what you fear, and what you need help to do faithfully.
2. Ask for formation, not only relief.
Use ordinary words. Say what you want, what you fear, and what you need help to do faithfully.
3. Connect the prayer to Scripture.
Start with Psalm 90:17, Proverbs 3:5-6, Proverbs 16:9.
4. End with one next step.
List your gifts, current responsibilities, available opportunities, and trusted counsel, then pray over it before choosing one next step.
